The Art of Peace
poem by Gaille Hunter
Silence draped in streams of amber and mauve
glistens harmoniously through distant echoes
as twisting tones of logical reasoning
break against whispering waves
of memories and forgetting
that heal moist hands and lips and shoulders
drenched by an orange moon
Patience melts answers and questions
into icy clear midnights
and pain dissolves over indigo dawns
as fear runs pale into the basin
over gritty stones of pride and duty
Time dances backward through lily and daisy fields
And children bridge the pond of humans being human beings
