In my paintings, the large swaths of color evoke the rhythm and flow of togetherness, community, love and support. The shapes are abstract in nature, embracing more of the abstract thought on how we are relate to each other. Think of a rainbow of the best human abstract expressions, interweave with each other. My zen-like brush strokes across large formats with watercolor-like acrylics effortlessly is reminiscent of Morris Louis,
yet I utilize brushes to control these fans of color rather than create pours in my color fields.
As a visual artist it is important to engage the community with my visual dialogs. Part of my practice is to show that arts can promote true prosperity and the arts are fundamental to our humanity as visual arts ennoble and inspire us—fostering creativity and promotes abstract thought. The arts help us express our values, build bridges between cultures, and bring us together regardless of ethnicity, religion, or age.
Truly, a visual artist cannot be isolated from humanity.
I want to keep finding ways to encouraging cultural consciousness and at the same time build measurable progress towards cultural equity that is more visible to all in my work.
